Wireless portable speakers are considered the
next step in the audio speaker technology. It first started with the CDs which
were popular in the late 90’s, but was slowly phased out by a new audio
technology known as the MP3. The good thing about MP3 is that it combined good
quality and low file size, which means that it can easily be stored and
transferred in any media. This paved the way to audio player manufacturers like
Apple to produce iPod. We all know that Apple has provided us with various
types of mobile devices that can access their iTunes store. So, this gives people
the option to purchase and download any track that they wish to include on
their list.
The popularity of MP3 players like iPod have
speed up the development of speakers that can deliver outstanding sounds –
giving more clarity and detail to the music you are playing. Furthermore,
modern MP3 players are also equipped with Bluetooth. It’s a new technology that
gives the user the freedom to connect his/her MP3 player with a wireless
portable speaker. Therefore, they can play their music even if they’re on the
go. You are no longer confined indoors; it’s now possible to enjoy your music
anywhere, even if you’re on a remote area without electricity.
Most wireless portable Bluetooth speakers have
built-in batteries that are rechargeable. A fully-charged wireless speaker can
play music up to 15-20 hours before it runs out of juice. Imagine the
convenience of not bringing 5-8 AA batteries in your bag. Also, there are Bluetooth
speakers that can be used to charge other devices. They have several diverse functions
that can make your life much easier.
Connecting your device with a Bluetooth speaker
or commonly known as “Pairing” is relatively easy. All you need to do is to
push down the pairing button on the speaker and enable the Bluetooth in your
device - might that be a smartphone, tablet, laptop or MP3 player. Once the
device detects the speaker, you can now pair them both. The range for which you
can pair these two devices will go as far as 30 feet, but there are exceptional
Bluetooth speakers that can pair at the maximum range of 35 feet. If you want
to change the tune or manipulate the volume, you can easily control it using
your own device. You no longer need to go to the speaker to change the
settings.
Another noteworthy feature of wireless speakers
is their capacity to be used as a speakerphone. It’s great for conference calls
where you need to talk to several individuals at the same time. However, not
all models have this particular feature, because some brands/models concentrated
more on audio performance rather than usability. It’s still an audio speaker
after all, and it’s meant for playing music.
Overall, the best Bluetooth speakers on the
market can be quite expensive as compared to their wired counterparts. This is
due to their portability and audio performance. Some people might say that
wired speakers can produce better sounds, but modern and much developed
wireless speakers have offset that advantage. More and more Bluetooth speakers
can now deliver excellent audio plus it can be used in other useful tasks like
conferencing.
