For centuries, we have been fascinated by technology and how it could change our future. We never expected that the rate of advancements we have today is so significant that we can already foresee the evolution of our current technology. 100 years from now, there will be radical changes in almost all sectors of society. What we’re going to tackle on this post is the most obvious ones that will likely to happen in our lifetime.

As far as technology is concern, the year 2012 is remembered as the year of Wi-Fi technology and mobile gadgets. However, there were several innovations that are not that popular among the masses but will definitely affect our future. Here are some of the things we can expect in the next one hundred years:

Guns Of Icarus Online Review

Guns of Icarus Online – A Steampunk Battle In The Sky

It’s no secret that everybody is fed up with the same type of games using the same mechanics that we usually see in most online games today. Most online gamers want something new, and they need a good diversion that can bring back their interest and passion into the genre. For sure, you always wanted a game where you and your friends can cooperatively fly a machine together and blast other ships from the sky. If there is a game like that, then it would be pretty amazing… isn’t it?

What if I tell you that there is already a game on the Internet that allows players to man a Zeppelin-esk ship in a post-apocalyptic steampunk universe. Each player can choose from three distinct roles – Gunner, Engineer and Captain. Sound interesting? Well, if I pique your curiosity then you better check out Guns of Icarus Online.  It’s one of a kind game from Muse Games which is also funded by Kickstarter Project.

You Don’t Have to Be a Spy to Have Encrypted Emails

If your knowledge of email security extends as far as not telling your best mate your log in password, then you definitely need to be educated in keeping the information your business sends and receives safe.

You don’t need to be working for her majesty’s secret service to be wary of who is watching. Chances are, it won’t be Russian spies or those threatening the safety of the country, but security threats on your email account are nothing to take lightly.

Rift – The Storm Legion Update

Discovering Rift's Storm Legion Update

2011 was the year when Trion Worlds released a new MMO on the gaming landscape; it was known to be the best MMO to come out on that same year. That game was Rift, a theme park MMO like World of Warcraft and GuildWars 2. However, they added a new twist to an old and dying MMO recipe. They introduced the rift system, which have changed the repetitive nature of MMO gaming into a more cooperative style of online gaming. Rift is also a more defined and polished game that most players can quickly adapt with.

With the release of other blockbuster online games on the market, Trion quickly presented their full expansion of the game – The Storm Legion. This new expansion has brought in a number of new features as well as adding more elements that will captivate its players. To start with, they added new environments like the forests of Cape Jule, valley of death in Seratos and also the enigmatic place of Morban. These particular zones are stunning and expansive and they made a good effort in presenting it in a virtual world.  Trion also added more atmospheric effects, and if you’re using a high standard computers with a very sophisticated video card. Then you can really feel that the world is more alive than the original game.

The Best Smartphones You Need To Have

 Leading Smartphones On The Market

In the gadget world, competition is healthy and it favors the mobile users. It brings out the best in these mobile masterpieces. The advancement of mobile technology has pushed the major players to produced gadgets that are not only useful but also revolutionary. They may present some features that may look utterly weird and futuristic for most of us but they are here to stay.

However, these gadgets will come at a price, but we are willing to pay for it – as long as it satisfies our needs and wants. So far the most sought after mobile gadgets today are the smartphones, and there are only three big names that made it big in this competitive market – Apple, Samsung and HTC.

The Benefits Of Ethernet Dedicated Internet

The advancement of Internet technology has opened many opportunities, it gave us the means to share and communicate more efficiently. The Internet has also raise the productivity level of businesses all over the world, and it is considered one of the most important tools of the trade. Any business enterprise cannot move forward without using the Internet. That is why having a fast and reliable Internet connection is a primary concern for businesses who wants to be competitive in their own respective market. For this matter, a new innovative solution is needed to further improve the productivity of business activities – and this is where “Ethernet Internet” comes in.

Ethernet Dedicated Internet is a new type of Internet connection that can provide speeds up to 1 Gbps, and this speed is for both upload and download. So, you have the capability to move large data files at lightning speeds. When it comes to performance and reliability, this connection is comparable to a traditional T1 connection. You can also be sure that you get the consistent speeds all the time, even during peak hours where Internet traffic jams are prevalent.

Dealing With Depression

Combating Depression - The First Step To A Happier Life

When we look at our world today, there are lots of things to be depressed about. If you’ve watched or read the latest news about the “Connecticut Shooting,” you would have to say it is the most unfortunate event that happened in the USA. According to the news, there were at least 20 school children and 6 adults who lost their lives when a lone gunman runs amok on their school. The gunman identified by authorities as Adam Lanza, who has very obscured motives as to why he did such heinous acts. However, if we look closely to Adam’s record, it is clear that he is a very depressed kid, a mild case of autism and has a severe social interaction problem.

Through history, we can see that most cold-blooded killers have some depression issues that went overboard and gradually pushed them to commit those crimes. As matter of fact, depression is also the main factor in most suicide cases all over the world. A lot of people have many experiences when it comes to depression but most of them don’t know how to react to such an event. If you are paralyzed by depression, then for sure you will have a hard time making the right decisions – making your situation a lot worse than it was before.

Samsung Galaxy Note II – A Budget Friendly Mobile Gadget

Samsung Galaxy Note II - More Than Just A Smartphone

Samsung is considered the second pick when you’re buying a mobile gadget, but that notion has changed today. As Samsung go toe to toe with Apple and got a considerable share in the tech market. As a matter of fact, one of their products has really made some waves. Samsung Galaxy Note is undeniably one of the success stories of 2011. This particular gadget has sold in bucket loads which only mean it surpassed every expectation that gadget experts thrown into it. It’s a feat not to be underestimated, and Samsung reached that status.

No wonder they produced a second version of that gadget, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which brings more power, more inches and multi-tasking prowess jam-packed in a device that can fit in your pocket. They also took some of the design cues of Galaxy S3, and made a bigger version of that particular flagship smartphone. It is sleeker and with a cleaner paint job that is inspired by nature. At 9.4mm thick, it is far slimmer than its predecessor – the original Note, which is 9.65mm thicker. However, it is much heavier than the original at 178g.

Toyota Kluger - The Best Crossover SUV

Toyota Kluger - A Capable SUV

When we talk about technological innovations, the automobile industry would never be left out. As a matter of fact, technology aided the development of vehicles that are both revolutionary and environmentally-friendly. These are the factors that most auto consumers are looking for in a vehicle, and this is the main agenda of automobile manufacturers like Toyota in producing cars that would not endanger human lives but also provide benefits for the environment.

Having this in mind, Toyota created the Kluger which is also known in Australia as Toyota Highlander. This particular mini SUV was first produced in 2000, but it failed to get the attention of most auto enthusiasts and so Toyota didn’t expect much from it. However, they did continue its production, in which the features of the Toyota Kluger have managed to move forward – until it overtook all its competitors in the mini SUV market. There are two variants for this SUV, the hybrid version and the non-hybrid which is the one available in Australia.

Eve Online – A Great Sandbox Game

Eve Online - Space Opera

Space is the last frontier as they say it, and we’re beginning to master its mysteries through technological advancements. One day we might even put up a fully functional space colony. According to some scientists, if we can continue with our current pace, then we will see a whole new future within the next 150 years. My hunch is a colony on Mars, but it can be something else like Terraforming, wherein a whole planet can be altered according to our biological makeup. So, we can survive there like it is our own Earth.

Anyway, all these futuristic ideas came to me when I played an online game that really depicts the life of a star traveller. It’s a great game entitled Eve Online, wherein warp jumps and wormholes are an everyday experience. You can choose any path you like; you can be a merchant, miner, bounty hunter, pirate or even a CEO of a space corporation. It all depends on the skills you have, and the best part of it all – you don’t learn those skills through reading. Though you may need to buy several skills books, all the learning is done by injecting those skills directly to your brain.

Apple iPod Touch – The MP3 Player To Rule Them All

The 5th Generation iPod Touch

Let’s face it - iPhone 5 is really expensive! But its features can never be replaced as well as the popularity and aura it emits – it’s beyond other smartphones on the market. However, if you’re the type of person who only wants to enjoy some of its features but you don’t want to buy the whole package, then you need to find a good alternative. And no other gadget can rival an Apple iPhone 5 than another Apple product. It’s less expensive but still jam-packed with the best features that an iPhone 5 can offer.

I’m referring to the latest iPod touch (5th Generation); it’s more than just an MP3 player. Though, it is the best gadget to play your favorite songs, it can also provide you with some of the most sought after features that most users are looking for today. The new iPod touch is sleeker and taller with 640x1136 pixels, and a 4-inch screen to compliment that resolution. On top of that it runs on iOS 6 with the Siri update on the side – giving you the option to use some of its voice activated features that can only be found on iPhone 5.

The Top 3 Blu Ray Players in Tescos Right Now!

The Best Blu Ray Players In The Market

Blu Ray players are now the "must have" gadget to watch films on in your home, so here is a selection of the top 3 Blu Ray players that are available right now:

1. The Panasonic DMR-BWT700EB, this Blu Ray disc player plays 2D Blu Rays and 3D Blu Rays. Not only does it play both, but also the DMR-BWT700 can convert 2D TV programmes and discs to faux 3D, which is a brilliant feature as not all current Blu Ray titles are available in 3D. This player can also record Freeview television. Although the 320GB drive may seem rather small compared to other models, in fact you can actually store around 80 hours of hi-definition content, or 154 hours of standard-definition material. Another interesting feature of this player is that you can now skype your friends and family through your television using an additional camera you can purchase. Not only can you watch Blu Ray discs but the DMR-BWT700 is also capable of ripping cds. Once a disc has loaded, it uses a built-in Gracenote database to find album and artist data.

2. Part of the newest Blu Ray players from Tesco is the Toshiba BDX1300 Blu-ray player, this player is relatively cheap but has crisp detailed images with excellent realistic colours which can usually be found in a much more expensive product. As most of our favourite files are now mainly stored on USB devices this Blu Ray player comes with a USB drive built-in so that you can play music and view pictures from your computer and other USB compatible devices. This player is quick to load discs and the set up process is quick and simple, as are the menus when you are using the product.

3. The Sony BDPS390 Blu Ray Player including Wi-Fi is one of the newest Blu Ray players from Tesco but is one of the best. With this Blu Ray player not only can you watch Blu Ray discs but you can also give a new life to your old DVD’s by playing them with this Sony model in near HD quality. With the inbuilt Wi-Fi there is no need for cables to stream from your computer or the internet. For a relatively cheap price this Sony also includes the Sony Entertainment Network which allows you to watch iPlayer, Demand 5 as well as apps for Eurosport and YouTube.

City Of Heroes - A Final Goodbye

City Of Heroes - Shutting Down

When I woke up this morning, I received an unusual e-mail from an MMO game I played before. Though I haven’t visited that game since 2007, it’s quite disheartening to see that a good online game is shutting its doors to the public. City of Heroes is officially shutting down this day, December 2, 2012… COH is one of the major MMORPG that is based on a make-your-own-superhero mechanics. It’s the father of character customization which gave way to other online games to follow its footsteps. I also enjoyed this game for a year, discovering many powerful skills for my toons, and meeting a lot of superheroes in the process.

As like any other online games out there, it needs a community to follow it and a group of gamers to invest on it by paying their monthly subscription; this converts into revenues which help run their operations. Also, COH needs manpower and resources to exist; without these important components – it will really come to this point. It is clear that there’s a big shift in online gaming these days, as most MMORPG goes for Free-To-Play business model – with micro-transactions for their revenues. With these changes, most Pay-To-Play online gaming companies will have no choice but to convert their games to the FTP model, because it will be very hard to compete with other new free online games when they still stick with their old system.
