Nissan GT-R - Godzilla On The Highway

When it comes to the Japanese race circuit, there’s only one “Bad Boy” on the tracks. The infamous Nissan GT-R – known to many as Godzilla, because it’s the most powerful high performance car produced by Nissan. This iconic car was once known as Nissan Skyline GT-R, a roadster who achieved fame and notoriety on the roads as well as the tracks. The Skyline GT-R was so successful back then that even western countries imported this particular Japanese sports car. However, Nissan has stopped the production of the Skyline GT-R during the 90’s, and this made the car rare and much more expensive.

If you really want to buy the GT-R during the 90’s and early 2000; you really need to shell out a lot of money. This particular obstacle has pushed Nissan to design and produced a new type Nissan GT-R. During the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, a new prototype of the GT-R has been shown to the public.  It made a lot of clamour and debates until the perfect version was unveiled on 2007, and that sparks the production of the New Nissan GT-R. The design they made for this car is very Japanese – it looks like a Giant Samurai Robot!

Nissan also changed the engine from a four-wheel drive 6 cylinder twin-turbo engine into a more powerful V6 VR38DETT engine. It can pump-up a speed of 193 miles (approximately 311 km/h). The car can also go from 0-60 mph in as low as 3.2 seconds and this can be achieved by using its lunch control. The most significant feature of the new GT-R is its handling – it can really dominate the corners and this was proven and tested during comparison tests.

In comparison tests, the Nissan GT-R goes head to head with other high performance cars on the market. The Porsche 911 GT3 is considered the arch-nemesis of the Nissan GT-R and they were pitted against each other in many tests. Although, both cars have their own strength and weaknesses – the GT-R is less expensive and more nimble during corners. In fact, a lot of motoring enthusiast prefers the GT-R over the Porsche 911 GT3. 

The evolution of this Japanese sports car since 2007, where it was presented on the Tokyo Motor Show was simply amazing. The color combination, trims, design and the need to go further with speed has made this car one of the most sought after sports car of 2013. In my own opinion, the 2013 version of Nissan GT-R is more aerodynamic and aesthetically beautiful.

The price for this Bad Boy is at $97,820 (approximately Php 3.8 mil) and that is for the base model. Its Black Edition will cost as much as $107,320 (approximately Php 4.2 mil). Within the millionaire’s circle, it’s still a competitive price to pay as compared to other European super cars.
