MYO Gesture Control Wristband - Muscle Sensing Technology

The focus of our technology today is on community and communication. The need to communicate and share with anyone in the world is a major factor in any of our gadgets and mobile devices. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine just sent me a link about a new ground-breaking device that will be mass marketed this year. The first time I saw the video of this gadget, it gave me some spine tingling chills – the one I felt when I first watched the movie minority report. Although, this time it’s no longer science fiction but a device that will make tasks seamless and more remote.

The one I’m talking about is MYO – a gesture control wristband that will allow you to interact with any of your digital devices. So, it’s a wristband that tracks and use the electrical impulses in your muscles and lets you control your smartphones, laptops, television or anything that is digital in your house with you just a wave of your hand. The technology behind this device can instantly measure the electrical activity in your muscles and transform that into commands. Therefore, there are certain gestures that you need to do to send a particular command to you gadget.

Also, Thalmic Labs - the company behind MYO are encouraging developers to come up with different apps that will further push the capabilities of their device. At the end of this year, we will see various mobile devices that will be tied-up with this technology. So, we’ll definitely see some home enhancement devices along with other security-related gadgets. The armed forces will also be interested in this particular technology, since there are military units that are now using robots in some of their operations. MYO will increase the command protocols of these robots through combat gestures. Nonetheless, this technology will be invaluable in many military operations.

Overall, MYO wristband is a unique technology that will set the trend this 2013. The interactivity of man and machine is personified in one revolutionary muscle sensing gadget. I just hope I can have one on my wrist but for sure - it will cost me an arm and a leg to own one!
