Mastering Your Fears...
Fear is an emotion that is triggered in your mind; it gives
you a warning when an impending event can directly affect your life. We fear
something that can lead us to danger or even death, and when fear overcomes reason
it turns into phobia. That type of fear becomes a mental condition, and it
would require the help of a mental health professional like a psychologist to
correct or cure it. So, why do we need
to understand our fears? We need to know more about it, because it is the first
step on becoming fearless.
When you are fearless, you can accomplish more and you will never
fall to melancholy even if you experience failures along the way. However,
being brave doesn’t mean feeling invincible, you know that there are
limitations to what you can do but you are not afraid to take some risks. I know this for a fact, because there are decisions in my
life that seems radical, but I still need to make those decisions - no matter what the cost.
So what do people fear the most in their lives?
Everything that could bring them to a situation that is out of their comfort zone. If you are fearful to make some changes in your life, then you will never improve yourself. I wrote down several steps that have helped me before and I still use these methods to tackle several tricky situations that I encounter in a daily basis.

Know your goals – it is wise to know what you really want to
achieve. They say goals open up opportunities and motivate you to move forward.
For me this is true, because without goals you become stagnant.
Face your fears – this means identify what you are fearful
about. If you are afraid of something, even if it is too childish for you, then
write it down on a piece of paper. Make a list of things you are fearful
about.
Create your options – also on the piece of paper where you
wrote down your fears, write several strategies that you can employ to combat
your fears along with some rational explanation of those fears.
Take the risks, make the changes – once you have the list, discipline
yourself and implement those changes. Go out of you comfort zone and take some risks, but be brave enough to face the consequences. Always remember, it would take some time
and effort before you see some good results, but you need to be patient and
wait for that certain moment – when you truly mastered your fears.
Mastering your fears can be a great feat to achieve, but it
is not impossible to do. Becoming fearless is also giving yourself some
freedom, because you are not bounded by emotions that stop you from reaching
your goals in life.
As the Nike Slogan goes - 'just do it!'. That's the best way to beat your fears - feel them and act anyway.
