Guns of Icarus Online – A Steampunk Battle In The Sky

It’s no secret that everybody is fed up with the same type of games using the same mechanics that we usually see in most online games today. Most online gamers want something new, and they need a good diversion that can bring back their interest and passion into the genre. For sure, you always wanted a game where you and your friends can cooperatively fly a machine together and blast other ships from the sky. If there is a game like that, then it would be pretty amazing… isn’t it?

What if I tell you that there is already a game on the Internet that allows players to man a Zeppelin-esk ship in a post-apocalyptic steampunk universe. Each player can choose from three distinct roles – Gunner, Engineer and Captain. Sound interesting? Well, if I pique your curiosity then you better check out Guns of Icarus Online.  It’s one of a kind game from Muse Games which is also funded by Kickstarter Project.

In my own opinion, this is the only game where teamwork and skill is literally the key in achieving PVP victory.  Without these important factors, the ship that your team is piloting will likely to be blown out of the sky. In this game the roles are a bit self-explanatory. The engineer is responsible for repairs, gunner shoots the boogies with big guns and the captain pilots the ship.

Each profession has its own special abilities that can directly affect the performance of the ship. For example the captain can acquire devices that can aid the ship’s flying capabilities. Gunners get specialized ammunition which can raise the firepower of their guns, while engineers can get tools to effectively buff and repair the ship.

When it comes to the game’s community, it seems everyone is friendly and helpful – especially if you’re still a newbie. Even though this is a PVP centered game, the community is there to make the game vibrant and enjoyable. Also, matchmaking is simple and easy to understand. Every battle is organized via the Lobby, and you can choose which players you want to play with. There are also different types of maps depending on the mode of the battle.

Overall, it’s a great game that you can play with your buddies and because it is free to play – no monthly obligations. However, if you want full customization for your characters as well as your ships then you will need to shed some dollars. You should try this game, it is a bit funny but it has an amazing gameplay that focuses on cooperation, communication and great team play.
